Mabuhay at cheers! My name is Michael Lapid and I am the teacher/advisor at Bell Middle School for our GK Club, Gawad Kalinga which means “to give care”. GK club’s mission is to improve the quality of life in the community that we live in, locally and abroad. The GK club exercises principals of the non-profit organization Gawad Kalinga from the Philippines. They create GK Villages to provide and build sustainable communities for those in poverty, therefore GK club commits and participates in doing community service. GK club also strives to build self-esteems for our students who will become model citizens and future leaders in the community.

Club: Best Buddies enriches the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by presenting opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated life skills such as job skills and inter-personal relationships in a community environment.
Advisors: (student) Amber Laroche (student) Ivan Perales  Teacher: Elana Mora

GWC (Girls Who Code)
Through the Club's program, girls learn to use computer science to impact their community and join a supportive sisterhood of peers and role models across the US. All students regardless of gender are accepted. Our curriculum is designed for students with a wide range of computer science experience. We have activities for students with ZERO computer science experience all the way up to activities that introduce college-level concepts.  The program gives students exposure into computer science and the opportunities that those doors open up. If interested, please email Ms. Lee at [email protected]
